I always have difficulties giving a proper answer when people ask me what kind of music I listen to / that I like.
My music taste is extremely wide, there’s not a lot of type I’ll dismiss right from the start. Anyone would notice if they were to go through my iTunes.
However, I don’t really listen to the latest music charting on the radio. I have the tendency of listening to the same artists over and over again. At anytime, my playlist will usually consist of the songs of one or two of my favourite artists (maybe a couple stand alone songs also) and I’ll switch it a couple days later after having played the same songs over and over again.
I might have killed a certain 1997 song for my friend Paul a couple years ago by played it on loop too often.
If a song manage to catch my attention on the radio, only then I’ll add it in my library, and maybe I’ll look and add more songs/albums from the artist. Since I don’t listen to much radio, this normally doesn’t happen that often.
Every now and then, I’ll ask my friends for some input on what song I should listen too.
For instance, a couple years ago, I asked my friend Josh, and one of the song he came back with was Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy) by Big & Rich. Well, I did like it and I included their discography in my playlist rotation.
The other week, when Jonathan and me were driving (back) to Montreal, I had him in charge of the music for the same reason. He played his Spotify playlist and, overall, he has good taste in music. In the end, he suggested me to follow his playlist, which I did. I now have some new additions to my collection. Funny fact : I realized that I had already heard, at the gym, most of the songs from his playlist that caught my attention.
